Finished Richard Eyre's NATIONAL SERVICE: DIARY OF A DECADE AT THE NATIONAL THEATRE this morning.

A fascinating read about Eyre's 10 years at the National. It charts from 1987 to 1997. Some of the comments on arts funding are as relevant, if not more, today. It is very interesting to hear about his day to day whilst managing the National, directing work, and other external activities.

Last Friday, we filmed a third scene for my showreel with
@acting_lincs @theatrewaddo & @myeyeswide. A scene with @sarahannhass, who is also the writer of the scene. Had a great time on set and looking forward to having the scenes finished in post-production. Then, I will have my first showreel complete

Yesterday, I joined a Q&A Panel, giving advice to young people's future as a creative and then delivered three puppetry workshops (two to school groups and one to Franklin students)

Thank you, @franklingrimsby, for allowing me to be part of your Creative Conference (partnered and sponsored by @unilincoln @createnelincs). So good to see such a vast number of creatives there for the day sharing their own experiences and workshops too.

I led a very brief introduction to puppetry (specifically tabletop - using @puppet_box puppets) and spoke around my work locally, as an actor and puppeteer, and some of the challenges of working locally. As well as highlighting how grateful I am to be still working with the writer and director (@andyevans891) at @kazbah_puppet_studio) who I first met at 13 in youth theatre.

Fun, concentrated work. Object. Playfulness. What's simpler? What's the puppets problem to sort? Actor or puppeteer? What's the game? Focus. Taking care of the body.

Twice in one week. Today, I've been in Lincoln. On Monday, I was at LAC for an @acting_lincs Pro Group Meeting and again today for a @lincsartscentre Critical Friends Group meeting. Thank you, @3en_anderson and the rest of the CFG it was great to have an update on Lincoln Arts Centre activity.

This time, we performed 6 performances (3 a day) to the lovely audiences at the @nolimitsfest at @normanbyhall

@aliceinmurrayland, @moolahoola and I love performing this show to all different audience ages, and Salty and the Omega 3 even signed some autographs

Took some time off.

I've been in Scotland for eight days.

The first holiday in around eighteen years. Spending time with my family in a place my Dad wanted to visit again but never got the chance to. Took the time off and had a rest away from work, no emails, and less time spent on my phone.

It was the first time in around four years that I picked up my camera again. It took some time getting used to my camera again, thinking about the shots that I wanted to take and considering the weather conditions. I loved photography, but when the first Covid lockdown came, photography took a pause. I mainly shot nature and landscapes, so the restrictions didn't really allow any time to spend time outdoors with my camera. But in Scotland, I took the time to think about the shots, repositioning my camera, and learning along the way. I am completely self-taught and still take my time when setting up the shots and in the editing process. I've found I really love exploring places and seem to really notice them more because I'm thinking of the photos I might take.

This is the view of Loch Sheil, Glenfinnan. I walked up to the viewpoint for the Glenfinnan Viaduct (location for the Harry Potter movies) and turned around to find this view.

A visit to The Puppet Theatre Barge.

Andy ( @andyevans891 / @kazbah_puppet_studio ) and I travelled to meet up with @britishpuppetguild for The Insect Circus at @puppetbarge! Such a lovely place to visit and really enjoyed seeing the marionettes brimming from every possible space on the barge. Really greatful to have had a look backstage and the marionettes up close.
